Add $0.42 of actives per unit ($840), packaging at $0.61 per unit ($1,220), two hours of labor at $65/hr ($130), and $180 of allocated overhead. Batch cost is $2,802. If expected loss is 3%, good units are 1,940 — not 2,000 — so cost per unit is $1.44, not $1.40. On a 40% markup that four-cent difference is $109 of margin per batch, and it compounds across every SKU you run.
